Is it Liverputian or Liverpudlian?

Remember when your parents took you on a trip and you stayed in a hotel and they let you hold onto the key and push the button for the elevator and on the elevator and you ate in the restaurant and maybe swam in the pool and every time you left the room someone came and cleaned up your mess and maybe just maybe you got room service? Remember how awesome you thought that was and how you thought it would be so great to live in a hotel? Yeah, not so much.

Don't get me wrong, the Lanes Privateer Inn is great. The food is great, the people are great, the view is great and the room is great. I just don't want to live in a hotel anymore.

Anyhow, we got here almost a week ago now and checked into this charming little inn that has everything we need. We're in a good sized room with a king sized bed and the ice machine is just a few feet outside the door. I don't know who needs that much ice at nine in the morning, but apparently somebody does.
In any case, here's the view from the Lanes second floor balcony.

No, that's not the ocean. It's a river. The Mersey river I believe. And no, we're not in England. Just it's colony.

This is another view, off to the back of the inn.

This is the view looking towards downtown Liverpool.

This is a view of the room before I started moving furniture around and bringing in appliances. I'm such a coffeeholic that getting up and getting dressed to go get a coffee was too much for me to handle, so I bought a new coffee maker, even though I have one in storage somewhere. So Jack and Kim, if you're reading this, don't buy a new maker if yours finally shuffles off to Buffalo. You can have this one!

That was the last nice day we've had since we've been here. Every other day has had all four seasons, with the only constant being wind. Lots and lots of wind. I've yet to ask the locals about this, but I'm hoping that this is just a winter thing.

We've met quite a few people so far, all of whom are so unbelievalby nice its a little surreal. The food here is great so far, although my stomach officially declared war last night after deep fried shrimp and scallops. It said to me, enough already. Get a damned banana in you, please, for the love of all that is good and holy. I'm dangerously close to having the clothes that I do have with me not fit in a matter of days if I don't take drastic action, so I think it would be prudent if I were to go for a walk every now and then.

As we speak, we're on the hunt for a home and may be slowly honing in on one. I'll keep you updated. For now, I'm going to finish my freshly brewed, in-room coffee and venture off to find the elusive laundromat.
Until later...
