Coffee and Cigarettes...

That used to be my morning ritual. Now it's coffee and blog-reading or coffee and knitting. Infinitely healthier and pretty much garunteed not to slowly kill me. I love my little morning ritual. I try and squeeze it in no matter what my day holds. I find it a very calming way to start the day. Well, the coffee isn't so much calming as absolutely necessary.

I've recovered nicely from my little bout of insomnia. It's amazing how much that screws me up now that I'm a tad bit older than I used to be. My teenage years were almost exclusively spent in the dark, as I was such a night owl. Now if I'm not in bed and fully asleep by at least 11 pm, I am in so much trouble the next day.

So the puppy name thing is coming along pretty well. I've got a grand total of five votes now, with Hank clearly in the lead with 2! I've gotten some great suggesstions as well, which are as follows;

From Donna, Mojo, as it's a two syllable name which it has been suggessted is good for dogs. Simple, easy to recognize and hear, which makes a lot of sense.

Carrie and her hubby worked together on this list: Bruno, Boris, Cosmo, Dirk, Hugo, Karl, Otto, Ralf, Rudi and Willi. A fine list, however my hubby's boss is named Bruno so I'm sorry, but we'll have to take that one out of consideration. The constable actually suggessted Otto as well, so there may be something to that.

Ellen Googled the German translations of knitting and wool, but it didn't work out too well for her (which, after translating it myself, I see why...quite a mouthful!), but did wonder what 'Constable' would be in German, which is 'polizist'.

I've heard another name that I like, though not German in origin. Zev, which is Hebrew for wolf. I thought that was kind of cool.

Still haven't come up with some concrete 'prizes', but if you're inclined to throw a name or two in the ring (and this goes for all of you Facebookers too who might be reading the imported versions of my blog posts) there will likely be three categories.

One for a name that would work well as a dog name, regardless of whether we use it or not. This would be a legit. name that I liked.

Another category would be for a ridiculous name that wouldn't work so well in real life, but would be funny nonetheless and if it makes me laugh, then all the better.

The third category would probably be a random draw of people who have left suggesstions cuz I can't come up with another interesting reason for a category at the moment.
